A Fun Day Trip to Macau From Hong Kong
In my past travels to Hong Kong, I never really had the chance to visit Macau because my schedule was always packed. But this time, I finally had enough time to explore, so I made sure Macau was on the top of my list. It felt exciting knowing I was about to visit a place I had always skipped before.

We only planned a daytime trip since Macau doesn’t require too many days to enjoy. The ferry ride from Hong Kong Island took around an hour. Our ticket going there was free , that’s how amazing Hong Kong can be sometimes. For the return trip, we paid only a few dollars, so it was truly worth it.

The moment we arrived in Macau, I was already starving. And the first thing I saw was Jollibee. Of course, I had to get my favorite value meal. It tasted exactly like home in the Philippines, just double the price but I didn’t mind, I was too hungry to complain!

Our tour began at the famous Ruins of St. Paul’s. I loved how lively the area was, with shops offering free jerky tasting and plenty of Macau-made goodies to bring home. And finally, I got to see the ruins in person. It was breathtaking despite the crowd and the heat. I went inside the museum and explored every corner.

We filled the rest of our day exploring the big luxury hotels and casinos — The Parisian, The Venetian, City of Dreams, Studio City, The Londoner, and more. Each one had its own theme, and honestly, they were incredible. We even got several freebies during our visit, which made the day extra fun.

We also hired a Filipino guide for only around 500 pesos for the whole day. Not bad at all. It made everything easier since we didn’t have to plan every route ourselves.

All in all, Macau turned out to be fascinating. It’s modern, clean, organized, and full of surprises. Though next time, I would love to explore the temples and quieter cultural spots too. There’s still so much to see.

Macau may be small, but it’s full of character and charm. I’m glad I finally took the time to visit. Every corner told a story, from the historic ruins to the grand hotels sparkling at every turn.
