Yonsei University is one of the most prestigious schools in Korea, proudly part of the SKy trio alongside Seoul National University and Korea University. It is a dream school for many not only because of its academic reputation but also for its beautiful campus that blends history, culture, and modern learning.

I had the privilege of applying for a scholarship and chose Yonsei as one of my top choices since the curriculum perfectly fit my needs. During the height of the pandemic, I was juggling work, business, and my research proposal. With the support of my USC professor and my Japanese manager, I pushed through months of preparation for my MBA scholarship application. Those six months were filled with sleepless nights, countless documents, and the challenge of Cebu’s strict lockdown rules. Competing with over 4000 applicants across Asia was tough, and while the stars did not align for me that time, the journey was worth it.

What made the experience even more special was having the chance to visit Yonsei for a campus tour. Walking around the university felt like stepping back into my alma mater, the University of San Carlos, yet Yonsei carried a unique European charm in its architecture. Everything was so clean, aesthetic, and conducive for learning that you could easily feel motivated just by being there.

Of course, I couldn’t resist visiting the gift shop, where the merchandise was simply too cute not to take home. It was one of those moments where you realize that being in such a place is already a reward in itself.

After exploring Yonsei, I met my bestie Alex in Hongdae. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere, tried some delicious street food, and did a little shopping spree. It was the perfect way to wrap up an inspiring day—mixing a touch of academic dreams with the fun and youthful vibe of Seoul’s streets.

Yonsei University left me inspired and grateful. The experience reminded me that every step, even those that don’t lead exactly where we hope, still brings us closer to growth. I’ll definitely be back, and next time, with even bigger dreams.
