A Weekend Food Adventure: Banana Pancake Trail

When weekends roll around, I’m always ready for travel and food escapades, and Banana Pancake Trail in Cebu City delivered just that. With its Southeast Asian street food vibes, cute and authentic decor, and friendly staff, it felt like a mini escape to Vietnam or Thailand right in the city.

What I Ordered

First up, I had their Laksa, which I’ve always loved. This was actually the third version I’ve tried from different restaurants in Cebu. It took about 25 minutes to arrive, and the waiter gave me a heads-up, which I appreciated. The flavor was good, but I like my Laksa burning hot and extra rich, so for me, this one was around a 7 out of 10. So far, Ulli’s still holds the title for the best Laksa in Cebu.

Next, I had a Bánh mì, and wow, this was a winner. Everything from the bread to the fillings was spot on. I gave it a solid 10 out of 10. No complaints here.

Lastly, I ordered Martabak for takeout. I’ve been craving this for years, ever since my time working in Brunei. It brought back some nostalgic memories, though the taste wasn’t exactly like I remembered. Still, it was enjoyable, and I’d rate it a 7 out of 10.

Another plus is the price. Everything was affordable, and they don’t accept cash—only GCash, debit, or credit card. That worked out well for me.

Ambiance and Staff

The restaurant has such a lovely street food charm, with Southeast Asian details from Vietnam and Thailand. The exterior was super cute and inviting, perfect for casual dining or even just a coffee stop. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better.

Final Thoughts

Banana Pancake Trail is a great find in the city if you’re craving Southeast Asian flavors. While I had mixed thoughts on the Laksa and Martabak, the Bánh mì totally stole the show. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes on the menu.

If you’re in Cebu and want a fun, flavorful escape without booking a flight, this place is worth a stop.
