A Warm Welcome Dinner with My Oppa

Our first dinner together in Gyeongju and what a special night. Oppa took me to 대패92, a well-loved samgyeopsal spot that, from what I’ve heard, has several branches across Korea. It may be a typical Korean BBQ place, but what stood out was the generous spread of banchan (side dishes) and fresh leaf vegetables. As someone who adores wrapping my meat in different greens, I was thrilled!

The meat? Absolutely delicious, juicy, flavorful, and grilled just right. And of course, what’s a Korean dinner without soju? We went with Soju Zero this time (my second time trying it!) a lighter, refreshing twist that still keeps the fun going.

I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic. Back in 2015 in Cebu, oppa and I would often end our days with drinks and long conversations. That same vibe came rushing back, but this time, we’re in Korea, and my new chapter of drinking adventures has just begun.

One of the things I truly love about Korean culture is how drinking isn’t just about alcohol—it’s about connection. The laughter, the endless stories, the comfortable silences—they all flow so naturally when you’re clinking glasses with someone who knows your soul.

Thank you, oppa, for this warm welcome dinner. 대패92 will now have a place in my heart—not just for the food, but for the memories we created there

This is just the beginning and more restaurants, bars, and late-night stories await.
